The registration period will end on 10 March 2017. This will be at no additional cost to you (you will not be liable for a late registration fee).

You will be informed of the outcome of your change-of-course application after 20 days from when you applied.

Congratulations! You will soon receive a sms (20 January) alerting you to the registration process, and other important information. In the interim, you can go online to explore what awaits you at NMMU.

The process of officially alerting qualifying students as to their acceptance as a student at NMMU is underway and has been so since 5 January.

All prospective students should receive a sms notification within the next few days. Please continue to check your application status on the website or by clicking on the following link: http://www.nmmu.ac.za/Apply/Admission/Check-your-admission-status

Many of our programmes are already full. Consult the latest list.

Given the massive volume of applications, many of which were not completed correctly, NMMU is still in the process of alerting students as to the outcome of their applications. The University has all South African students’ results and is systematically working through all its 112 000 applications. NMMU hopes to complete this process in the next week or two.

NMMU is ONLY accepting students who have direct entry requirements for a particular programme and where there are still vacancies. This late application or walk-in period is from 9 to 13 January only. The form is available online.

The University is NOT accepting anyone who does not meet the particular requirements of the chosen programme.  Please go online to see which programmes are full and for which programmes you do qualify.

Please send an email to: admissions@nmmu.ac.za

Given the heavy volume of inquiries at this time, we request your patience. The Office hopes to reply to all queries within a few days.

Unfortunately, only those students, who were part of the identified zero efc (exempt family contribution) cohort, received their results while still owing funds. All other students need to settle their accounts.

Unfortunately, you will only be able to register to study if your outstanding debt is cleared. Late registration is until 31 March so you have until then to try to settle your outstanding fees.

Only 2016 students with a zero efc (exempt family contribution) will be allowed to register with outstanding debt. All students are subject to down payments for both tuition and residences. Please see amounts below.

  • Degree – R6 700
  • Diploma – R 4 700
  • Residence – R4 800
All January exams will be written at the NMB Stadium from 9-23 January. Find your exam by searching for the module code (in alphabetical order) on this list.
